Doing A Weld Right Means Dressing Right Too

When it comes to welding, clothing is everything, but not in the sense that most people think. Where some jobs or pastimes can appreciate a nice cut of clothing for how good it makes a person look, welding has an emphasis on clothing for personal safety. Showing up to a welding job in shorts and sandals, with a beach-ready t-shirt is a bad idea on multiple levels.

The technique of welding doesn’t just require skill, it requires respect for the power of the welding tools, and what they can do to an unprotected body. Eyes, for example, can be permanently blinded by the intense light that a torch can produce. The skin can easily be burned not just by the lethal heat produced by the torch itself, but by the spatter that is released from heated metal during the welding process. It’s the reason that protective gear like Lincoln welding jackets are essential.

Lincoln Lets You Work

Lincoln Electric’s roots go back over 100 years. It was a company founded in 1885 by its namesake, John C. Lincoln, although, at that time, he was more interested in a revolutionary technology of the period known as the electric motor. His advances put the company on the map, but from there, they expanded into many other areas.

Today, Lincoln is best known not for its motors, but for its tools, technology, and protective gear focused on the heavy industry. Lincoln’s focus is on letting skilled tradespeople do the critical work for modern society’s infrastructure, letting them work faster, more efficiently, more easily and, most important of all, in greater safety. Clothing like the shadow grain leather sleeved welding jacket is another step towards providing workers with that much-needed protection.

Flexibility & Durability for MIG and TIG Welds

The Lincoln K2987 welding jacket is a shadow grain leather sleeved protective garment. This is a combination jacket, using a mix of different materials to add more protection where it needs it while remaining light. We offer this jacket in a range of sizes, starting at medium and going all the way up to 3XL, so we’ve got you covered regardless of what fit you’re looking for.

This welding jacket is reinforced with split cowhide sleeves to give heavier protection and coverage to the arms that work more closely with the torch. The rest of the body, however, enjoys lighter flame-resistant cotton to make it easier to wear. If you do either TIG or MIG welding, this jacket is ideal for these types of jobs. It also includes two Velcro flapped exterior pockets for extra, secure, flame resistant storage. The flip up Velcro collar gives additional coverage to the neck area, while a spatter guard lining behind the snaps increases coverage and safety.
